Proteinuria and hypertension can be complex. Knowing when to treat, when to stop, and how to communicate with owners can be frustrating. This will be a clinically relevant review of small animal proteinuria.
WHAT THIS CE WILL COVER
1️⃣ A comprehensive review of the physiology of proteinuria including common causes, diagnosis, and management.
2️⃣ An overview of the management of hypertension proteinuric patients and non- proteinuric patients.
3️⃣ Recommendations for monitoring proteinuria in patients with normal renal function and azotemia.
4️⃣ Tips on communicating and discussing proteinuria with clients.

ABOUT DR. KAREN EILER
🌴 Native Californian
🎓 Attended Western University of Health Science, College of Veterinary Medicine (graduated with honors in 2007). Also holds a master’s degree in Mammalian Behavioral Ecology and in Biomedical Sciences.
🏥 Completed her internship and internal medicine residency at VCA West Los Angeles. Dr. Eiler worked at VCA West LA as a boarded internist for 10 years.
🗣️ Dr. Eiler has lectured locally and nationally, and has enjoyed teaching and mentoring other veterinarians.
💻 Dr. Eiler’s research and publications have focused on endocrinology.
